Assessment
Empowering Kids offers different types of assessments based on your child's individualized needs. The therapist will collaborate with the parents to determine a personalized assessment that is best suited to evaluate your child's unique strengths and needs.
Assessments include child interview, caregiver interview, teacher interview (as relevant), performance-based standardized tests, structured sensory processing clinical observations, additional clinical observations, and rating scales (criterion-referenced tests).
Types of Assessments:
- Developmental Evaluation (includes sensory processing) – Includes assessment of gross motor, fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, and praxis abilities as they impact a child’s participation in daily activities, by developmentally appropriate norm-referenced standardized testing, criterion-referenced testing, and structured clinical observations. Consultation with the family regarding results and treatment recommendations are provided.
- Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (SIPT) – Includes standardized assessment using the SIPT and structured clinical observations. Consultation interpreting the results and therapy recommendations are provided to the family.
- Handwriting Evaluation – Includes assessment of visual motor, visual perceptual, visual tracking, fine motor coordination, and ergonomics. Consultation with the family regarding results and treatment recommendations are provided.
- The Listening Program – Includes Assessment and 1 Consultation to establish the program.
- School-Based Assessment and Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)– Includes all appropriate assessment methods to determine child’s ability and areas of concern related to their educational setting access and school curriculum participation.
